Garment Kit - Jersey Knit + Simplicity 8172

Simplicity 8172 is kimono jacket with a full flounce.  This jacket can be made in an evening. Our sample is View D and our Fashion Duo includes the Jersey Knit to create View D or C. The only difference between View D and View C is the added contrasting sleeve trim.

This version is made using our Jersey Knit which is 72" wide. We selected the Phoenix in Twilight Blue as the Kimono top and a coordinating Hand Dyed Jersey Knit in the shade of Twilight Blue. The front facing is finished with a simple purchased or made 1/2" single fold bias. So...  you sew/serge the shoulder seams, side seams, attach the flounce, finish the facing with the bias strips and hem the flounce and sleeve openings.

• Jersey Knit Yardage to fit your garment measurements.

ORDERING:  

• Select your size and fabric from the available drop down menus. 

PATTERN A:  Sizes XXS - XXL  (see back of pattern jacket for measurements image available)
     XXS - M:  1 Yard each for Kimono and Flounce + Pattern
       L - XXL:  1 Yard Kimono top, 1 1/4 Yard Flounce + Pattern

Techniques involved include sewing a straight seam; attaching a curved flounce requiring a bit of ease and patience; attach a front edge facing; sleeve/garment hem.

Recommended Fabric: 72" Batik Cotton Jersey Knit 

Skill Level:  Confident Beginner. Perfect pattern for your first Jersey Knit garment.

Traditional Sewing Machine/Serger: Either. Garment sewing is faster with a serger, but it's not required to sew this simple tee shirt.
