Rae Cumbie and Carrie Emerson from Fit for Art Patterns are wonderful pattern designers and - better still - garment fit experts! Fitting garments is not always easy. Rae and Carrie make it wonderfully simple to understand your body shape as they fit you to the correct size to fit your style.
At a recent quilting and sewing show, Rae and Carrie stopped by our booth and selected three coordinating Cotton Jersey Knits to work with. We have always wanted to work together to create a few garments. They took the time to fit me using their fit expertise and to make sure they could make a top that I can wear - this was great!!
A few weeks ago on Instagram they shared the construction progress along with tips and tricks. It was wonderful to follow along! I have since received the beautiful Tabula Rasa Knit Tee garment in our SewBatik Jersey Knit and I absolutely love it!
How to purchase the knit fabric: You may be asking yourself how you can receive your own pattern and fabric for this beautiful knit tee. We are collaborating in a different way. - (2) Coordinating Jersey Knit fabrics that measure 18" x 36" (approximately) for the flared cuff and angled collar.
JERSEY KNIT COLOR OPTIONS (Fabrics are as close to the images as possible):
- A Variety in Tutti Fruiti and Coral Pink (Sold Out)
- A Variety in Aegean Blue and Copen Blue
- A Variety in Rich Brown Bark
- A Variety in Ivy and Sage Green
- A Variety in Navy Jewel, Lake, and Copen Blue
How to purchase the pattern: Rae and Carrie have written a blog to outline how they used our Jersey Knit to create the Tabula Rasa Knit Tee. Click HERE to read their instructional blog. They have created an item on their website called the SewBatik Knit Bundle which includes the Tabula Rasa Knit Tee pattern, one Variation pattern, and their favorite interfacing needed for this knit tee. Click HERE to purchase the pattern bundle on their website. You will use these patterns many many times as I will!
Sewing Techniques: sewing a straight seam; attaching a sleeve, attach a neckline facing; sleeve/garment hem. Serger is not necessary, but recommended to add rolled edge accents to the edge of the collar and sleeve accents.
Skill Level: Intermediate.
Conventional Sewing Machine/Serger: Either. Garment sewing is faster with a serger, but it's not required to sew on jersey knit.
